Big Turnout for Successful GROW Campaign Training Session

There was a large and enthusiastic turnout, despite severe weather, for GROW’s campaign training session for local candidates last Saturday in Bell Gardens. One candidate even drove all the way down from Hollister in Northern California overnight in order to attend the session after his flight was cancelled due to bad weather.

Several dozen candidates and potential candidates learned the basics of fundraising, voter targeting, precinct walking and FPPC compliance. Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff gave the keynote speech where he shared what he has learned during his tenure as a City Councilman, State Assembly Member and State Senator. The number of impressive and committed GROW candidates at the campaign session is a great sign for the 2014 elections!

ICYMI: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Endorses GROW Elect

Dr. Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State, one of the most respected leaders in our party, has endorsed GROW Elect and its mission. She declared, “The future of the Republican Party requires connecting with the growing diversity of United States citizens no matter their race, religion, ethnicity, or sex.  And as members of the party, we must come together to elect candidates who are committed to freedom, fiscal responsibility, and education reform.  GROW Elect is one such entity that helps cultivate Latino and Latina Republicans who are making a difference in their local communities by standing for these values and are challenging the status quo here in the state of California.  These men and women deserve our support and our thanks for what they are doing to represent these ideals for a better California.”

Spanish-Language Press Highlights Young GOP Latino Leaders and GROW Elect

Los Angeles Hoy, a Spanish-language newspaper, recently highlighted GROW Elect and a number of the young Latino Republicans it has helped elect such as Santa Ana School Board Member Cecilia Iglesias, Cudahy Mayor Jack Guerrero, and Downey Councilman Alex Saab. Each of these elected officials is providing dynamic leadership in their communities. The article quoted political scientists who praised the competition Republicans were now giving Democrats in the Latino community as a positive counter to longtime Democratic neglect of Latino neighborhoods.
