GROW Elect Hosts Successful Northern California Celebration

This past weekend, in San Jose, GROW Elect hosted another successful annual celebration, this time focused on Northern California Latino Republican candidates and elected officials. The enthusiastic attendees were greeted by Bob Nunez, Chairman of the Santa Clara County Republican Party.  Bob is also a successful GROW Elect candidate now serving on a local school board.
Republican Leaders Offer Inspiration, Advice and Praise

The gathering heard from GOP leaders, including Assemblyman Rocky Chavez and CRP Central Valley Vice-Chairman Marcelino Valdez.  In addition, Hollister Mayor Ignacio Velazquez, one of GROW’s first candidates, offered an inspirational message about the important difference that GROW Elect has made, and the impact that Latino Republican elected officials are making for their communities. Charles T. Munger, Jr. served as the Keynote Speaker.

GOP Leaders Honored with Spencer Award, Pacheco Award and Estrella Award

GROW Elect presented awards to honor several individuals. GROW Elect President Ruben Barrales surprised Munger with the Stuart K. Spencer Award, named after legendary Ronald Reagan political adviser Stu Spencer, for his vision and efforts to foster a stronger and more inclusive Republican Party in California. CRP Treasurer and former Downey Mayor Mario A. Guerra, was the recipient of the Romualdo Pacheco Award, named after the nation’s first Latino Congressman and Governor of California (and a Republican), because of his pioneering role as a GOP Latino leader. Lawndale City Clerk Bernadette Lourdes Suarez, a millennial Latina first elected as a 23-year old in an upset, received the Estrella Award (Estrella means “Star” in Spanish) for her success as a local elected official and her status as a rising star in her community.

GROW Elect looks forward to hosting its next conference in Los Angeles after the November 2016 elections.
